Creating a Survey Dashboard in Excel with Charts and Filters
If you’ve collected survey data and want to turn it into a clean, interactive dashboard—Excel is your best starting point. Here’s how to do it step by step.
📊 Step 1: Prepare Clean Survey Data
Your raw data should be organized in tabular format, with headers like:
- Name
- Gender
- Age Group
- Rating (1–5)
- Feedback Category
🔁 Step 2: Create a Pivot Table
Insert a Pivot Table and place:
- “Gender” or “Category” in Rows
- “Rating” in Values (Average or Count)
- “Age Group” in Filters (optional)
📈 Step 3: Add Pivot Charts
Choose a Pie, Bar, or Column Chart to visualize feedback distribution. You can copy these charts to a new sheet labeled Dashboard.
🧩 Step 4: Use Slicers for Filtering
Click inside your Pivot Table → Insert → Slicer → Choose fields like Gender or Category. This lets users filter visuals dynamically.
🎨 Step 5: Format the Dashboard
- Remove gridlines for a clean look
- Use consistent chart colors and bold titles
- Group charts and slicers into sections
✅ Done! You now have a complete Excel-based survey dashboard that can be shared or embedded into reports. Want a FREE sample? Download from our Gumroad or get the premium Power BI version!
